Hiram Mancil Sr., Elizabeth Durham Mancil's husband, had another illegitimate family with Serena Taft, who was Elizabeth Durham's niece. Serena Taft had 8 children by Hiram Mancil Sr. They were recognized in the family and community as Hiram's children but went by the Taft name. Serena and her children lived in a house about halfway between Hiram Sr.'s and Elizabeth Durham's house. She and Elizabeth Durham Mancil are said by the family to have helped each other during childbirth. Today the families of Hiram Mancil Sr. and Elizabeth Durham Mancil meet together with the illegitamite family of Serena Taff for the annual Mancil/Taff Reunion.
